Industry Clusters and Infrastructure

The goal of the Industry Clusters and Infrastructure portfolio is to promote critical infrastructure access to attract and retain jobs within Erie County’s unique, competitive industries: Advanced Manufacturing, Life Sciences/Health Care, Food Processing/Agriculture, Year-Round Recreation, and Business Services. Through the projects included in the Infinite Erie pipeline, Erie County will see:

  • the development of new and the revitalization of outdated industrial square-footage;</li span style="color:#ffffff;">
  • individuals trained for skills in Erie’s target growth industries;
  • increases in the county-wide fiber internet coverage;
  • direct new jobs created in target industry sectors, as well as in support of operations; and
  • further support for new digital economy workers.

The impact that the Industry Clusters and Infrastructure portfolio aims to achieve can be framed by more than just the completion of the pipeline projects below, but rather by the overarching community outcomes which we aim to collectively ‘move the needle’ on, including:

  • raising the participation of the county’s active workforce;
  • increasing and improving critical economic development infrastructure countywide; and
  • enhancing the county’s residents’ accessibility to broadband internet.

Via Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership’s Competitive Realities Report and Target Industry Strategy (Garner), the following industry families were chosen as optimal matches for Erie County’s unique, competitive advantages to the needs of particular industry sectors: Advanced Manufacturing, Life Sciences/Health Care, Food Processing/Agriculture, Year-Round Recreation, and Business Services.
